Senior Software Engineer — AI Engineering
About The Position
We're looking for a software engineer with a genuine passion for AI, someone who doesn't just use the new tools because
they have to, but because they can't help it. The kind of engineer who tries a new model the week it comes out, investigates
how things work under the hood, and gets real joy from discovering what's suddenly possible that wasn't last month.
This is a senior individual contributor role with real leadership expectations. You will own a domain end to end, from a raw
product idea through architecture, implementation, and production health. You will set its technical direction and be the
person others turn to about it. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with product, and we expect you to push back, challenge
specs, and drive the business need behind a feature, not just its implementation.
What you'll do
Own your domain: design, develop, and operate backend services and core system components in production (our stack:
Node.js and TypeScript over PostgreSQL) - and take responsibility for their direction, quality, and evolution.
Lead initiatives from ideation to production: identify opportunities, shape the solution, rally the people involved, and see it
through.
Build and productize AI-powered features: agents, assistants, and automation workflows that real customers rely on.
Design agent creation and orchestration- multi-step flows, tool/function calling, state management, guardrails, and
fallbacks for when the model gets it wrong.
Craft and refine prompts and retrieval pipelines, and evaluate their quality systematically rather than by gut feeling.
Collaborate deeply with product: translate ambiguous business needs into a sound technical shape, scope the right MVP,
and connect every technical decision to user value.
Use AI coding tools fluently in daily development - while remaining the engineer of record for everything that ships.
Review code, human- and AI-written, with a sharp eye for correctness, security, and long-term maintainability.
Bring creative solutions: run POCs, explore new models, tools, and paradigms, and turn the promising ones into practice
for the whole team.
Mentor other engineers through technical
5+ years of experience in backend software development.
A structured, methodical approach to prompt engineering and AI-assisted development — iterating deliberately and
measuring output quality.
Strong background in working with relational databases and data modeling in production systems.
Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production — model APIs, structured outputs, and creating or orchestrating
agents and multi-step workflows, including handling failure modes, latency, and cost. Not only experiments.
Strong background in distributed systems and system design; solid grasp of design patterns, algorithms, and data
structures.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP, Azure), and willingness to expand knowledge as needed.
Advantages:
Strong production experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
Experience with RAG systems — chunking strategies, embeddings, vector search, retrieval quality tuning.
Experience with formal LLM evaluation frameworks — building eval sets, regression testing for prompts, automated quality
metrics.
Multi-tenant SaaS experience, or deep third-party API integration experience (webhooks, idempotency, rate limits).
Experience with Angular 17+ or other modern frontend frameworks, and motivation to contribute beyond backend.
Who you are
A leader without needing the title: you take initiative, create clarity in ambiguous problem spaces, and move things
forward without waiting to be asked.
An owner: you care about your domain and stand behind what ships from it — including the parts an AI helped write.
A strong communicator: you can defend a technical decision to a PM, explain a tradeoff to leadership, and change your
mind when the better argument wins.
Business-minded: you see the bigger picture and push for what the business actually needs, even when it's not what the
ticket says.
Creative and curious: an autodidact who enjoys learning new domains and finds unconventional paths to solve hard
problems.
Team-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about building things and getting them into production.
English at a professional level, B2 or higher.
